ROBERTSON MAKES CRUCIBLE 147
Neil Robertson became the eighth player to make a magical maximum break at the Crucible, compiling the 147 in the 19th frame of his Betfred World Championship second round match against Jack Lisowski.
Robertson joins Cliff Thorburn, Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Williams, Ali Carter and John Higgins as the only players to score a perfect break in 45 years of snooker at the Crucible.
The Australian’s 147 came when he was 10-8 down against Lisowski. He was barely out of position throughout the break as he potted 15 reds with blacks and cleared the colours.
The maximum is worth a £40,000 bonus (as long as it is not equalled) plus a £7,500 share of the tournament’s £15,000 high break, as Graeme Dott also had a 147 during the qualifying rounds.
It’s the fifth maximum of Robertson’s career and his first since the 2019 Welsh Open. There have now been 176 official 147s in snooker history, and ten this season.
